Zoho CRM alternative in India: Zoho, Bigin or your own CRM?
Looking for a Zoho CRM alternative in India? What Zoho CRM and Bigin are built for, when to stay with them, and when a CRM set up on your own process fits.
You have a Zoho CRM trial open in one tab and your enquiry sheet in the other. The trial can do far more than the sheet. Your question is narrower: will your four salespeople open it every morning, and is there a Zoho CRM alternative in India that sits closer to the way you already work? Here is a fair way to decide.
What Zoho CRM is
Zoho CRM is a sales CRM made by Zoho Corporation, a private company with a campus in Chennai. Its website says it is built to serve businesses of all kinds, in every industry. It is a ready product that you shape yourself: the site describes custom modules, workflows, automation and a marketplace of apps that connect to it. Zoho also offers a setup service that runs from requirement gathering to onboarding.
It is charged per user per month, paid monthly or yearly, in several editions. There is a free edition with a limit on users, and a free trial of the paid editions.
Before any alternative, look at Bigin
Bigin is Zoho's own lighter CRM. Its website says it is built for a business whose customer data is still spread across spreadsheets, emails, messages and notes. It has pipelines, a phone app and a free plan, the paid plans are charged per user, and Zoho says you can move up to Zoho CRM later. If Bigin does the job, your search ends there.
Zoho CRM vs custom CRM: five questions a buyer asks
| Question | Zoho CRM | A system set up for your process |
|---|---|---|
| Who sets it up? | You, or Zoho's setup service | We do, on your own enquiry list, in about two weeks |
| How is it charged? | Per user per month, monthly or yearly | A fixed one-time price and a flat monthly plan, not per user |
| Whose process does it follow? | Its own structure, which you customise | Yours: your stages, your sources, your words |
| How much does it cover? | Modules, workflows and automation you switch on as you need them | One process at a time, with only the screens that process needs |
| Who do you call when it stops? | Ask which support your edition includes | One point of contact |
Neither column is right for everyone. The first suits a business that wants a wide product and has someone to run it. The second suits a business that wants one job done and wants someone else to set it up.
When Zoho CRM is the better choice
- You want to start this week. The free trial is there to open today. A system set up for you takes about two weeks.
- Someone in your office enjoys configuring software and will look after it every month.
- Your sales process is still changing. You can change modules, layouts and workflows yourself, on any day.
- You need it to talk to many other apps. Zoho has a marketplace for that.
- You want more than follow-up: workflows, automation and custom modules.
- You want to test without paying. There is a free edition and a free trial.
If two or three of these are true, stay with Zoho. A new product will not fix a list that nobody opens.
Test it on ten of your own enquiries
Do this in the trial before you decide. The same test works for Bigin, and for any other CRM.
- Enter ten real enquiries from last week, each with its source, one salesperson and a next follow-up date.
- Ask one salesperson to log a call from the phone. Time it.
- Open that salesperson's list of follow-ups due today.
- Find the follow-ups that were missed yesterday, without asking anyone.
- Note which fields and menus your team needs, and which they would never open.
- Write down the yearly cost for all your users.
If your team gets through these six steps without help, you have your answer and you do not need an alternative.
If Zoho CRM already works for you
Keep it. If sales runs well in Zoho and the trouble is somewhere else, for example orders that are promised and not dispatched, or payments that nobody follows up, that is a different process. A separate system for that one process can run beside Zoho CRM, the way Tally stays for accounts.
Which one fits you?
Stay on a shared sheet if one or two people follow up and you read the list every Friday. The follow-up routine and its register are enough for that.
Choose Bigin or Zoho CRM if you want to start now, set things up yourself and pay by user.
Look at a system set up for you when all you need is one list of enquiries, each with one salesperson and a next follow-up date, in your own stages, and you want it set up for you, with one point of contact who stays answerable for it. We set up Enquiry Follow-up in that way, on your own open enquiries. The live demo runs without a signup, and custom or ready-made? covers the wider choice.
Product names belong to their owners. Shilp Labs is not connected to any of them. What is said about them here was read on their own websites in October 2026 and may have changed.
